The MRI system is an integrated hardware solution, consisting of workstations, high-speed graphics processors, cameras, and reflective passive markers that can be used to capture 3D motion data associated with any activity. The motion data is processed by MRI's proprietary series of engineering algorithms that interpret and analyze the rigid and non-rigid movements of the subject. This interpretation is instantly rendered into an accurate 3D graphic representation of the subject that moves in real-time exactly as the subject moves. The motion capture process is simple and non-invasive, as the system is totally optical and tetherless. Small reflective makers are placed on the subject. The subject stands still for a few seconds to complete the scaling process, and then instantly becomes a 3D graphics character whose movements can be recorded and evaluated. Because the technology displays the subject's image in real-time, an athlete, worker or patient may actually "step into" the model movement. The subject or student then replicates the motions of the model enabling him or her to "feel" the exact mechanics required to perform the movement successfully. The Technology not only accurately captures the motion of the subject in real-time, it supplements the visual representation with real-time feedback of pertinent and quantified data. Range of motion between body segments can be measured and recorded, the effects of the body on equipment can be evaluated, and the center of gravity can be determined. The technology can also be used to create simulated movements optimized for a specific individual or application. This customized 3D model can be used to improve an athlete's performance or accelerate a worker's recovery from injury. The Technology offers industry the most accurate, immediate and comprehensive 3D motion analysis system available. |
